Impact of Hosting the Superbowl

Not only will the Superbowl bring a ton of new visitors to take in all that New Orleans has to offer, the big game is also a huge boost for the local economy. Local businesses will be able to reach new customers, many of whom may return for a future trip to this fun city after first seeing all its glory during the Superbowl. More than 124 million people tuned in to see the Superbowl on TV in 2024 and just as many are expected to watch in 2025.

Restaurants and hotels expect to see plenty of new visitors create traditions, enjoy meals, and experience the vacation of a lifetime. The Superbowl also creates job opportunities for those working directly in support of the game and those in related businesses. Even restaurants and local attractions often need to hire additional employees to deal with larger crowds.

Hosting the Superbowl in 2025 promises to showcase the best hotels, dining, and attractions in New Orleans. If you want to get a head start on experiencing everything The Big Easy has to offer, plan a visit in advance or book your favorites before they fill up for Superbowl weekend.

Superbowl Dining in New Orleans

From beignets to etouffee, New Orleans is the ultimate food destination.

  1. Cafe du Monde- Start your day with a cup of coffee and a plate of crispy, sweet beignets at Cafe du Monde. This restaurant has been a staple in NOLA since 1862 and still reigns as one of the best places to get a beignet. There are ten locations throughout New Orleans but stop by the Riverwalk location to see the first ever spot. Enjoy a small plate along with a cup of cafe au lait at one of their casual outdoor tables. At the end of your visit, you can even take their famous beignet mix home to recreate your memories.
  2. Cochon - For the ultimate in Southern and Cajun-style cooking, check out Cochon. Entrees are reasonably priced and all of the food is a delicious intro to local cuisine. The chefs at Cochon use locally-sourced ingredients when possible, including pork, produce, and, of course, seafood. Cochon serves Louisiana favorites like gumbo, catfish, fish stew, and grits, but they put their own spin on these classics. It’s a popular spot so reservations are recommended for a large party or a guaranteed table, although you can always wait for a walk-up spot to become available by the bar, chef’s counter, or patio.
  3. Willa Jean - This Southern cafe is the perfect place for a casual bite the morning of the game. Willa’s serves tasty Southern biscuits smothered with gravy, plus plenty of delicious sweet or savory breakfast items. The chicken and waffles is also a fan favorite with a sweet and spicy maple chili glaze on top. They don’t take reservations, so you may need to wait for a table during peak times. You can put your name on the waitlist using online check-in or by visiting the host stand when you arrive.
  4. GW Fins - If you’re looking for an upscale dining experience, check out GW Fins. You’ll likely need a reservation and there is a strict dress code, but the food and service are both phenomenal. Seafood is definitely the star of the menu, with dishes like lobster dumplings, yellowfin tuna, local drum with a macadamia crust, and blackened Gulf swordfish. But there are plenty of other favorites like steak, chicken, salads, and delicious desserts available. GW Fins has been featured as one of the top restaurants not just in New Orleans but in the U.S.
