Can You Guess the Size of the Largest Costco in the World?

Costco is known for its large product sizes, bulk pricing, and loyal fanbase (not to mention the massive hot dogs for just $1.50). There are plenty of gems to be found on the shelves, but some stand out more than others.

Costco shoppers love a good deal and many of the top-rated products from 2024 delivered. The store brand, Kirkland Signature, continued to reign supreme for price and often for quality as well. Customers in the know stock up on Kirkland Signature items for the pantry, freezer, fridge, and everything in between. The store’s rotisserie chicken continued as a best-seller and customer favorite while newer items from the snack food section got special attention this year.

Kirkland Signature Toilet Paper

The Costco store brand is one of the big ticket reasons why so many customers keep their store membership and the paper goods practically fly off the shelves.
  • High Quality Toilet Paper - 2024 was another big year for personal care and the bulk pack of toilet paper from Costco was a top seller. It’s safe for septic systems so you don’t need to worry about major backups when you use it. The paper is also made with FSC-certified materials, which makes it more sustainable than some other brands without a premium price tag.
  • Budget-Friendly - The pack of 30 rolls is around $24, a steal for those keeping track of toilet paper prices. The rolls are a bit wider than some other brands but still fit on a standard toilet paper holder. If you want to stock up on toilet paper, this bulk buy just makes sense. Like many other Kirkland Signature products around Costco, it has a loyal following.
  • Customer Praise - With over 12,000 customer reviews, this toilet paper is celebrated for being both soft and strong at the same time. It has an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5. Praise from customers includes recognition of this toilet paper as “a roll of great magic” and that “there’s simply nothing better than Costco toilet paper.” Many reviewers noted that it was a good value but that the quality was what kept them returning to purchase more when they ran out.

The Best Rotisserie Chicken You Can Get

Costco’s rotisserie chicken is what gets many customers into the store, a fact that the chain relies on when designing store layouts.
  • A Special Trip for Chicken - Many customers come to Costco specifically to pick up one of their delicious (and enormous) rotisserie chickens. Costco actually counts on this and places the chickens in the back so that patrons have to walk by all of the other shelves to get to the birds. This leads to more impulse purchases, which ultimately helps sales. Even if you came in just for a few items, there’s a good chance that you’ll end up with more than you planned as you see all of the great deals in the store. The chickens are kept near the deli section, so you can also pick up extras to go along with your meal like mac and cheese or a fruit tray.
  • Keeping Costs Low - Each of these 3-pound birds is just $5. How exactly does Costco keep the price so low and still make money? The short answer is that they don’t. The store relies on this phenomenal deal to get customers into the store, hoping that they’ll end up making additional purchases while they’re there. The tactic works for the retailer, who reported $249.6 billion in net sales in fiscal year 2024, up 5% from the previous year.
  • Always Fresh - Customers love the budget-friendly price of the Costco rotisserie chickens but they can also count on freshness and quality. Ready-to-eat birds are available for two hours before they’re taken into the kitchens and used for prepared foods like chicken salad or chicken wraps. A fresh batch of chicken is taken from the in-store rotisserie, packaged up, and placed out under the warmers. These only stay out for two hours and the cycle begins again. So you’re always guaranteed a freshly made rotisserie chicken when you stop by Costco.

Costco Snack Foods

Customers relied on bulk purchases at Costco to satisfy their sweet and salty cravings for snacks all day.
  • Stroopwafels - These sweet and chewy cookies had a moment in 2024. They’ve been popular in the Netherlands since the mid-19th century when they were created. But they became a worldwide phenomenon in recent years and a 2024 favorite snack to pick up in bulk at Costco. We recommend putting one over a piping hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa to let it soften a bit, creating a deliciously warm treat that you’ll love with your morning cup of joe.
  • Whisps Cheese Crisps - These are delicious as a snack but also add a salty crunch on top of salads, on sandwiches, and in prepared dishes. Because Costco carries large-sized items, these packages are bigger than what you’ll find in your grocery store but a much better value. The parmesan cheese option works well on its own or in recipes, but the asiago pepperjack is a nice choice if you want a little bit of a kick. Try the cheddar crisps for something a bit milder.
  • Universal Bakery Traditional Aussie Bites - In recent years, they’ve been offered individually-wrapped, making them a perfect snack to throw in my bag or lunchbox. Costco customers love that they are made with healthy ingredients like rolled oats, flax seeds, and dried fruit. But the sweet taste and chewy texture also can’t be beat. These have been a Costco staple for a few years and got even more attention in 2024.

2024 was a good year for Costco and its customers. Top choices from store brand Kirkland Signature staying at the top of the must-by list were joined by fun snacks that are as easy to eat as they are delicious. Items with a cult-like following, such as the rotisserie chicken, continued to make their way into many carts, but who can blame shoppers? If you haven’t tried these yet, check out one of the Costco faves in 2025.
